It is the duty of the probation officer to provide individualized, community-based supervision to offenders ordered to complete
a term of probation supervision. Tazewell County probation officers shall operate under a philosophy that integrates both law enforcement and current evidence-based practice in order to best achieve the organization’s vision and mission. Probation Officers shall embrace the concept of change while holding high expectations for both themselves and the offenders they supervise.

VISION
Tazewell County Probation advocates justice for the victim, public safety for the community, accountability for change in the offender, and respectful treatment for all involved.

MISSION
The mission of Tazewell County Probation is the enhancement of public safety as evidenced by a reduction of recidivism from current rates. The department will endeavor to endorse and implement evidence-based practices to ensure positive supervision outcomes.
