Federal Trade Commission or FTC

• If you click on the Consumer Protection Tab you will find links to warnings about current frauds and scams, a section called Today’s Tip, and information on how to file a consumer complaint.
• On the right side of the main page you will also find a link to their Identity Theft Section.  From there you will find information on how to Deter, Detect, and Defend Against ID Theft along with information on what to do if you have already become a victim.
• The FTC also has an Identity Theft Hotline available:1-877-438-4338

Internet Crime Complaint Center or IC3

·      IC3 is a partnership between the FBI and the National White Collar Crime Center.

·      This site allows victims of computer crimes to file a complaint on line.

·      It also has a press room section that gives information on current scams and a protect yourself section that educates you on the various internet scams.

Illinois Department of Aging

·      The Illinois Department of Aging has set up an Elder Abuse Hotline 1-866-800-1409

·      This site also has valuable information on the different types of Elder Abuse.

Senior Strength
