Internet Crimes

 If you have become a victim of identity theft:

1. Get a copy of your credit report online at annualcreditreport.com (free once a year)

2. File a local police report **ask for a copy or get the report number for your records**

3. Contact the FTC and file a complaint:
   1. Online at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft/consumers/filing-a-report.html
   2. Or call the hotline at 1-877-ID-Theft (438-4338)

**Don’t forget to make a copy or write down the report number for your records.

4. Contact the credit bureaus to flag your account.

**Contact one of the three and the others will be notified by the bureau you selected.

1. Equifax: 1-800-525-6285
2. Experian: 1-888-397-3742
3. TransUnion: 1-800-680-7289

5. Contact each creditor that you believe to have suspicious activity.

6. Keep a log of all the people you speak with, their phone numbers, and any report numbers. **always keep copies of documentation you send.
